Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.
Hello! My name is Hyuk Gi. I usually go by Gi. I'm a UX designer in Seattle and currently a first-year master's student pursuing Human-Centered Design and Engineering at the University of Washington.
Soon after I graduated from Pratt Institute in 2015, I worked as an industrial designer for about a year in different companies. While I was working at a product design, I learned how to quickly generate shapes and forms through sketching and rendering.
But then, I was interested in how computer technology makes it possible for designers to generate creative design. This led me to learn about computer science and I received a post-baccalaureate degree in computer science at the University of Washington in 2020. I learned about the software development life cycle, algorithm & data structure, basic programming, and more.
However, I wanted something more than just programming and I realized that I love to interact with people to create ideas through design and engineering for the people. This made me enter into user experience design and now I'm focusing on practical, sustainable, and equitable design & engineering that works for the people.
